Greek Turkey Pitas

Another ground turkey recipe! We've made this one since the first year we were married, so for almost ten years. It's easy and healthy.

1 pkg. ground turkey (usually 1.3 lbs.)
3 tbsp. milk
4 tbsp. seasoned breadcrumbs
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. garlic salt (or 1 tsp. garlic powder and salt to taste)
ground pepper to taste
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/8 tsp. sugar
1 small cucumber, seeded and chopped
1 green onion, thinly sliced (optional)
1/2 tsp. dried, crushed mint (optional)
whole wheat pita bread
shredded lettuce or spinach

In a large bowl, mix together milk, bread crumbs, oregano, cumin, garlic salt, and pepper. Add ground turkey and mix well. Form into oval patties about 1/2 in. thick.

You can either broil them, or you can cook them in a skillet. Either way, cook them until they are no longer pink inside. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together yogurt, sugar, cucumber (and green onion and mint if you are using them).

We slice the patties into strips, then stuff them into pita halves with some lettuce or spinach and top with the yogurt dressing.
