I made hummus, successfully, for the first time. Colin loves it, thought I think he's going to add a jalapeno to it to mimic the hummus from Sarah's house.
I barely measured anything, so for that I apologize.
I used dry chick peas, cooked in my pressure cooked for 25 minutes. They were soft and wonderful, I could have eaten them all right out of the pot.
I filled my blender to the 750ml line and with the blender running added about two tablespoons of olive oil. It didn't mix that well so I added a little chick pea water. I kept adding it until it mixed and then I put in three scoops of tahini (I think it was close to half a cup), a bunch of cumin, and a tablespoon or so of lemon juice at the end.
I like my hummus smooth like in restaurants. I'm really just posting to say I added hardly any oil and a whole cup of chick pea water and it came out really well. It's way healthier and very tasty. I like it more than anything I've ever bought in a store.
I think all the other ingredients are all about taste. Mine was very tahini-y. Colin loves it but I think I'll put a little less next time.
